Sprinkler repair experts inspecting an irrigation system

    About us

Your Hunter system experts in DeSoto

Elite Sprinkler Repair & Installation has spent years working exclusively on irrigation systems across the DFW Metroplex, and Hunter equipment makes up a large share of what we see every week. From the PGP Ultra rotors in older Cedar Hill neighborhoods to the Hydrawise-connected controllers going into new builds around Mansfield, we know how each generation of Hunter hardware behaves — and how it fails.
That experience changes how we work. We don’t start a visit by quoting a replacement system; we start by running your zones, reading your controller’s history, and figuring out exactly which part is actually at fault. Most Hunter issues we’re called out for turn out to be a single worn seal, a tripped sensor, or a programming setting that drifted — not a reason to tear out a working system.
We’re also used to what North Texas does to irrigation equipment specifically. Heavy clay soil puts more strain on valves and risers than sandier soil does, and our summer heat pushes controllers and sensors harder than the spec sheet assumes. That local context is part of every diagnosis, not an afterthought.

    What we service

Built for Hunter systems, not generic ones

Every Hunter lineup has its own quirks, from how the PGP series seals to how the ICC2 firmware handles a power blip. We carry the parts and the know-how for all of them, so a repair doesn’t turn into a return visit a week later.

    How it works

    Three steps, one visit

We keep the visit simple on purpose. No multi-trip diagnostics, no quoting blind — just a clear look at what your system is actually doing before anything gets repaired.
    1

    Inspect

We run a full cycle, walk every zone, and check the controller’s programming against what your lawn actually needs.
    2

    Diagnose

We pin down the exact cause — pressure, wiring, a worn part, or a programming issue — and tell you straight, before any work starts.
    3

    Fix

Flat-rate repair, same visit whenever the part’s on the van. No guessing, no upsell.

    Does this sound familiar

Signs your Hunter system needs a second look

None of these mean you need a new system. They’re the handful of issues that account for most of the Hunter service calls we run across DFW, and each one has a specific, usually inexpensive, fix.

    01

A rotor spins but never pulls back into the case

Usually a worn wiper seal or grit caught in the riser, not a failed unit.

    02

    Your ICC2 or Pro-HC controller won’t hold a program

Often a dead backup battery or a setting reset that needs to be walked back through.

    03

Solar Sync waters on dry days, or skips when it should run

The sensor itself is rarely broken — it just needs recalibrating to your yard.

    04

One zone barely trickles while the rest spray fine

Classic sign of a clogged MP Rotator nozzle or a valve that isn’t opening all the way.

    Local expertise

Hunter systems and North Texas clay soil

Most irrigation manuals are written for average soil conditions, and North Texas doesn’t have average soil. The heavy clay across DeSoto, Cedar Hill, and the rest of Dallas County drains slowly and shifts with every wet-dry cycle, which puts extra stress on buried valves, swing joints, and the risers your Hunter rotors sit in.
That’s part of why the same Hunter component can fail differently here than it would in sandier soil elsewhere. A PGP rotor that’s slow to retract in clay is often dealing with soil pressure on the case, not just a worn seal — and a Solar Sync sensor calibrated for a different climate zone will consistently misread our summer heat. We factor that local context into every diagnosis rather than applying a generic fix.

    Got questions

    We’ve got answers

Yes — we regularly service ICC2, Pro-HC, X2, and Hydrawise-connected controllers, along with older Hunter models that are no longer in production. If you’re not sure what model you have, we can identify it on site.
We’re an independent irrigation repair company, not an official Hunter dealer or franchise. That said, we work on Hunter systems constantly and stock the parts that fail most often, so most repairs happen in a single visit.
It depends on the part and the cause, which is exactly why we diagnose before quoting. Most single-component repairs — a rotor, a valve, a sensor — fall into a predictable flat-rate range we’ll confirm before any work starts.
For the most common failures — PGP rotors, MP Rotator nozzles, solenoids, backup batteries — yes. Less common controller boards or specialty sensors sometimes need to be ordered, and we’ll tell you upfront if that’s the case.
